Tragically, I'd never been to High Park in all my 22 years as a Torontonian. But my mom remedied that by gathering the family together to go see the cherry blossoms bloom at High Park. It was a brilliantly sunny day and predictably packed, and the flowers were beautiful.
We also took a stroll through the zoo, where the animals looked a little ragged as they lost their winter coats.
I wandered over to the lakeshore afterwards and met some swans.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing the 4th Annual Fashion Against Poverty show, a registered non-profit organization that concentrates on transforming the lives of less fortunate children in Canada and Ghana, West Africa.
It was really exciting getting to go backstage and see all the hectic preparations: the make-up being applied, hair getting done, wardrobes being readied, and walks being practiced.
Getting to photograph the actual fashion show and all the designers' hard work on amazing models was an honour!

A big thank you to the incredible team who put this together! Thanks for letting me be a part of the wonder!

I had the awesome opportunity to check out the Aga Khan Museum recently! If you have the chance, do visit, the venue is incredible and the exhibits are beautiful. Here are some photos. Not all the exhibits accept photography, so there is definitely more to see than is shown here!

We then visited the 'private' areas of the house. The bathrooms were so cool! The shower had a chandelier!
The fountain room (as I name it) was gorgeous and my favourite area, bar the magnificent library (first image in the slideshow above).
Despite having lived in Toronto for half my life, I had never been to Casa Loma. So when I decided to take my friend out, we chose to go somewhere neither of us had been to before, instead of just to the mall like we usually do. It was a delight! Here are some of the highlights. Most of the ground floor was an exercise in dramatic lighting...
The bedrooms were decadent. The blue one was my favourite, hence the repeated photos of it!
Have you been to Casa Loma? If not, go! It's well priced and gorgeous, even more so in the summer.

I recently visited the Royal Ontario Museum with a group of close friends, which was an experience, since I've only ever been with family or one friend at a time. We lost each other pretty often. Here are some photos! I tried a new editing style: lower contrast and cooler tones. I like the effect on white statues. Especially since museum lighting makes everything very warm and yellow looking.

At last, 10,000 years later, I update this poor and lonely website. If only I had some comments to motivate me, (hint, hint). Anyway, Buskerfest was awesome this year because I managed to actually see some of the acts. Usually the crowd is taller than me, but this time I got to stand in front.
Then I got to watch, and more importantly, clearly photograph this awesome performance!

I'm alive! Well, this summer has been crazy, but I do have some photos to share. About a month ago I went to the Toronto Zoo with my friend, excited to use my zoom lens there for the first time. Through meticulous planning and the obsessive use of a map, we managed to see all but two of the exhibits in the three hours we had until closing.
Here are my favourites of the many, many photos I took.

Fog makes everything mysterious. It turns street lights into spotlights and lanterns into captured moons. It makes reality softer, or more frighteningly indistinct. It makes the air shine.

I took my brothers to visit this (frankly overpriced) aquarium, which was quite fun if crowded. It was very difficult to take photos I was happy with, and I was so frustrated that I enjoyed the experience less than I should have which...I'm not proud of. But here are my best shots, taken with my 50 mm f1.8 as well as my standard 18-55 mm lens (no flash was used except with the sawshark).

My favourite tanks by far were the jellyfish tanks. They're so beautiful and serene and dangerous and lovely! The tank lights changed colours too, which was fun. (Help, I've fallen in love with jellyfish). (I felt like a NatGeo photographer, which is my ultimate dream).
Poor injured jellyflish!
Upside-down jellies! Their tentacles are on top!!!
I end with this: I've discovered my over-reliance on my camera, in which I can't be happy anywhere if I can't document it, and that's a very sad state of mind to be in. Don't do this! Love places! Don't get caught up in the photos (or lack thereof) and miss the experience! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! (How many more exclamation marks do you think I can get away with?)
